KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 ― The haze in Pasir Gudang, Johor, worsens as at 9am today, recording very unhealthy air quality with Air pollutant Index (API) reading of 201, from 161 at 11 pm yesterday.

According to the Department of Environment's (DOE) portal, two other areas in Johor also recorded unhealthy air. They are Larkin Lama and Kota Tinggi, with API of 183 and 135, respectively.

Unhealthy API readings were also recorded in Pahang, at Balok Baru, Kuantan (155) and Indera Mahkota, Kuantan (133, and in Terengganu, at Kemaman (143) and Paka (106).

Thirty areas recorded moderate air quality, including Jerantut, Pahang (98), Sri Aman, Sarawak (90), Bandaraya Melaka (76), Banting, Selangor (75), Putrajaya (72), Seremban, Negeri Sembilan (67) and Tanjung Malim, Perak (66).

Meanwhile, 15 areas recorded healthy API and they included Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (50), Limbang, Sarawak (42), Sri Manjung, Perak (47), Alor Setar, Kedah (24) and Perai, Penang (22).

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and 300 and above, hazardous.
