KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 ― The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) is working on guidelines on laws for next-of-kin (NoK) to manage their affairs after it was confirmed that debris found on a French island belonged to the still-missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.
According to Utusan Malaysia, the guidelines ― which will be jointly established with the Federal Territories Mufti Department ― will include how to handle funerals, methods on dividing property of victims and marriage status of NoK.
“In a day or two, we will come out with the best solutions for its usage and explanation to victims’ families on how they can make preparations,” Federal Territories Mufti Datuk Dr Zulkifli Mohamad was quoted as saying in the Malay daily.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday confirmed that a part found on the French island of Reunion is from Flight MH370, marking the first concrete breakthrough in the search for the jetliner since its mysterious disappearance nearly 17 months ago.
He added that the finding support the conclusion by an international search team that the plane had ended its flight in the southern region of the Indian Ocean.
