“A post-mortem examination on the baby has been conducted, and the doctor confirmed that the baby had died following a miscarriage.

“The baby was also confirmed to have died more than 24 hours earlier,” he said in a statement today.

“Neither of the suspects has any prior criminal record.

“Police have also seized several items to assist in the investigation,” he said.

He said the court had granted a two-day remand order until tomorrow for the first suspect, while the second suspect was remanded for three days until June 15 to facilitate investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealing a birth by secretly disposing of the body of a child, an offence punishable by up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both.
