GEORGE TOWN, Aug 7 — Watch dealer Guan Kak Heng, whose daughter Huan Jin, was aboard MH370, left for Kuala Lumpur yesterday to obtain more details following confirmation the flaperon was from the ill-fated flight.
He said he wanted more information to get a better grasp of the situation.
“The whole family is aching. We cannot accept the news. I am heading to Kuala Lumpur to get a better grasp of the situation,” Malay Mail Online quoted him as saying.
Huan Jin, a mother of two aged one and four years, was among the 239 passengers on the plane bound for Beijing. She was sent by her company to attend a three-week course.
Guan, 70, is still holding on to the belief she is alive despite developments to the contrary.
“I believe she will turn up one day at our family home here in Bayan Baru,” he said.
He said he would not accept his daughter was dead until he saw her body, regardless of all the official announcements.
“I have never stopped praying for the return of my daughter. Until I see her body, I will not believe she is dead,” he said.
“In Chinese custom, we must have a body to confirm someone is dead to carry out the final religious rites and rituals.”
