BALIK PULAU, June 25 — A 21-year-old tuition teacher has pleaded not guilty to three charges of inciting three primary schoolboys to perform sexual acts of gross indecency.
Mohd Amin Nur Izwan Jamaluddin claimed trial before Sessions Court judge Sitarun Nisa Abdul Aziz yesterday.
He was alleged to have committed the offences in his house at Lengkok Mahsuri, Bayan Baru, from February to May.
Each of the charges, under Section 377E of the Penal Code, carries a maximum 15-year imprisonment and whipping upon conviction.
The judge granted Mohd Amin, who also works as a school administration staff in Bayan Baru, bail of RM6,000 in one surety for each charge.
Earlier, assistant prosecutor Edward Chan urged the court not to grant bail to Mohd Amin because of the seriousness of the alleged offences.
He claimed the accused was a bad influence to students.
Chan said Mohd Amin should have maintained a high moral ground required for a tuition teacher and school administrative staff.
“His behaviour was against the moral ground,” he said. “I request the court not to grant bail.”
Mohd Amin’s legal aid counsel, Joseph Cheong, saidd the accused himself was a victim of lewd behaviour during his school days.
“He is suffering from his past trauma,” he said.
Cheong requested bail to allow his client to take care of his parents, who were diabetic and suffered from high blood pressure, in Permatang Pauh.
The case will come up for mention on July 27.
