KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak warned Malaysians today against destructive criticisms that are reckless and thoughtless, insisting that they would “disturb” the development of the country and could lead to chaos.

While presenting the National Transformation Programme (NTP) report for 2014, Najib insisted that Putrajaya’s government and economic transformation programmes were not “self-indulgent”, but based on feedback from all strata of the public.

“Only with constructive criticisms and suggestions, then we can correct, realign and repair whatever is lacking and any weaknesses that exist here and there,” Najib told hundreds in Angkasapuri here.

“If not, the country’s development process will be disturbed, chaos, and it can complicate matters, at once confusing the public.”

Najib insisted today that his administration does not make empty promises and is no “merchant of dreams”, adding that Putrajaya’s performance in the report presented tonight was based on authentic facts and data.

The prime minister admitted, however, that it is impossible for his administration to deliver every single one of the public’s demands and said only God could perform such a feat.

“I urge the public to think maturely and not shrouded with emotion in judging the government and its noble efforts all this while,” said the Finance Minister.

“Therefore, I urge, let us all distance ourselves from enmity and find touch points, for the sake of the prosperity of Malaysia.”
