BUKIT MERTAJAM, Feb 28 — The Permatang Pauh Umno division has allocated RM145,000 to 29 primary and secondary schools under its parliamentary constituency to finance activities to empower education.

Permatang Pauh Umno division chief Datuk Mohd Zaidi Mohd Said said an allocation of RM5,000 for each school was to facilitate activities involving teachers and students.

“Of the amount given, RM3,000 is for the parents-teachers association (PTA) in each school while the rest is for the teachers’ clubs.

“We hope the allocation can ease the burden and expenditure of parents and boost school facilities for joint use,” he told reporters after opening the 36th annual general meeting of Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Penanti PTA, here, today.

During the ceremony, he also handed over cash aid from the Group Trust Fund For Poor Students and e-Kasih to 128 selected students, involving an allocation of RM32,000.

In the meantime, he said the division had also applied for allocations from the Education Ministry to build open halls for 10 schools, at RM200,000 each. — Bernama
