SHAH ALAM, Dec 15 — The remand for five national football supporters allegedly involved in a commotion during the first leg semi-final of the 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup on December 7 has been extended by three days to December 18.
Their remand was to have ended today.
Meanwhile, the remand for another four suspects was extended by two more days to Wednesday.
Magistrate Nurshakinah Ahmad Kamarudin allowed the application by the police to extend the remand to facilitate investigations into the incident, which resulted in one Vietnamese fan being injured.
Last Friday, the police obtained a detention order against the nine suspects for four days which ended today.
In the incident, a group of Harimau Malaya supporters which was disappointed after Malaysia lost 1-2 to Vietnam was said to have provoked Vietnamese supporters by throwing objects at them.
In the second leg at the My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi last Thursday, Malaysia moved to the final after defeating Vietnam 4-2. — Bernama
