SEREMBAN, Sept 29 — Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim was reportedly granted an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir at Istana Hinggap here today amid the state’s ongoing constitutional and customary dispute.
According to Berita Harian, Ismail arrived at the palace at about 10.50am, while the vehicle carrying Tuanku Muhriz entered the grounds about 10 minutes later.
The meeting was also understood to have been attended by Undang Luak Sungei Ujong Datuk Klana Petra Muhammad Faris Johari, Undang Luak Rembau Datuk Sedia Raja Hassan Ab Hamid and Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad.
Berita Harian reported that the audience was reportedly related to the ongoing dispute, including the revocation of the appointments of 10 state executive councillors.
Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had recently urged Ismail to meet Tuanku Muhriz and the Undang Yang Empat to seek a resolution to the dispute.
Zahid also called for discussions with the Tunku Besar Tampin, Datuk Shahbandar and other customary leaders, taking into account the Negeri Sembilan state constitution, customs and relevant regulations.
Yesterday, Bukit Aman police completed recording statements from the 10 former state executive councillors and several other individuals in connection with the state’s ongoing palace crisis.
