KOTA BAHARU, Dec 14 — Police believed they have crippled a drug trafficking syndicate with the arrest of a couple in Kampung Terusan Limbat on Wednesday. Kelantan police chief Datuk Mazlan Lazim said the police party also seized 1,000 syabu pills worth RM25,000.

“Earlier, the police party raided the house in Kampung Terusan Limbat and arrested four suspects at 2.45am before searching a Perodua Myvi owned by one of the suspects. “After checking the car, they found syabu on placed on the front passenger seat. Police also found RM84,557 in one of the rooms, believed to be proceeds from the sale of drugs,” he told reporters here today.

Mazlan said the four suspects arrested between 21 and 25 years had no previous criminal record. “Initial police investigation found that the drug traffickers used a burger stall to cover their illegal activities.

“One of the suspects runs a burger stall while the others are unemployed,” he added. All the suspects were remanded for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
