TASEK GELUGOR, Sept 23 ― A gunman walked into a house in Kampung Selamat here last night where funeral prayers were being held and shot to death a man and injured another, police said.

Seberang Perai Utara Police chief ACP Abdul Rahman Ibrahim said the dead man had been identified as Lee Wooi Shong, 34, who went by the nickname of 'Kastam'.

He said Lee was shot in the back of the head and body in the incident which occurred at 10.45pm, and he died at the Kepala Batas Hospital at 2.20am today.

The other man, aged 38, was shot in both hands, he added.       

Abdul Rahman said police files showed that Lee had two criminal records related to gambling.

He said the gunman had parked his car outside the house and walked in to fire the shots at Lee and the other man.

Police found three 9mm ammunition casings, he said.

Abdul Rahman said people gathered at the house chased after the gunman but failed to catch him.

He advised people who might have information on the incident to contact the police to assist in the investigation. ― Bernama
