PETALING JAYA, Aug 22 — Police are investigating the phone call from an unknown number that an insurance agent received moments before he was shot.
The caller, a woman, had instructed the agent to go to Jalan 2/13, Section 2, Taman Kajang Utama, where a waiting gunman fired at him.
The woman had told him she wanted to buy insurance for her husband.
A police source said investigations suggest the woman who called could be an accomplice of the shooter who lured the victim to the location.
“We are now in the midst of tracing the phone number and the person who called,” the source said.
Police have already recorded the 30-year-old victim's statement and he said he did not know the identity of the woman.
“The victim thought it was a random person who got his number and wanted to enquire about insurance. He said he always received such calls,” said the source.
Before he was shot, he had tried to call the woman but it went unanswered.
During the 8pm incident, the victim was inside his car when two suspects on a motorcycle approached.
The pillion rider suddenly took out a gun and fired a shot which had hit his right thigh.
