KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 — Muslims nationwide were warned today against banking on cooperation from other communities in all aspects of life, saying that doing so will only lead to their own detriment.
In the weekly Friday sermon by the Malaysian Islamic Religious Development Department (Jakim) today, Muslims were also told that the ongoing conflict in Palestine could also happen in Malaysia if the community fails to come together.
“Stop putting hope to get help, aid, and conspiring with them, because in the end it will only bring harm and loss to the Muslim community itself,” said the sermon.
“That is why Allah has reminded us that the enemies of Islam will never once protect Islam and the community, unless they get adulation and praise out of it.”
The central message of the sermon lamented the lack of action from the Muslim world against the conflict, which has seen thousands of Palestinians killed.
Jakim also claimed that the conflict is bigger than a humanitarian issue, and claimed that the Zionists are mocking the faith of the Muslims with their atrocities.
Quoting a book by the former Grand Imam of al-Azhar and influential scholar Muhammad Sayyid Tantawi, the sermon also accused Israelis of being a “race of criminals” who revile Islam and the Arabs.
Israelis are also on a path to conquer not only Palestine, but also the surrounding countries of Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and even the holy city of Medina, it said.
In order to face the conflict, the sermon urged Muslims in the country to quickly unite so that what happens in Palestine does not repeat itself here.
“This is the moment that has been anticipated by the enemies of Islam and their evil agenda would surely succeed,” said the sermon, referring to the point where Muslims become disunited.
Last month, Jakim’s sermon had told Muslims to unite and do everything they can to defend their country against their enemies including in Malaysia, following the deadly bombing of Palestine by Israel.
It has also repeatedly warned Muslims here that foreign forces were conspiring with certain local personalities and groups to undermine Islam and in its sermon at mosques nationwide today, continued to link the Israeli assault in the Gaza Strip to attacks on Malaysia.
