IPOH, Aug 11 — Police arrested seven suspects, including two pairs of siblings, after raiding a house in Kampung Menora, Senggang Sayong near Kuala Kangsar here, for trafficking in drugs, cough syrup and ketum drinks on Saturday.
Perak deputy police chief Datuk A. Paramasivam said those detained were aged
between 18 and 46, and police also seized several items during the 9.30pm raid, based on a tip-off.
“Police also confiscated 17.233 litres of cough syrup in 172 bottles, 550 amphetamine tablets and 216 packets of ketum drinks,” he told reporters at the Perak police contingent headquarters here today.
“They have been selling ketum drinks in the last three months and dabbled into drug trafficking in the past two weeks, using their house as a store for their contraband drugs. We will find out who produced the drugs and their buyers,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 30 (3) of the Poison Act 1952. — Bernama
