KOTA KINABALU, June 27 — The Director of the Sabah Customs Department, Datuk Dr Janathan Kandok suffered a loss of about RM70,000, including a departmental vehicle, when his house in Taman Ujana Kingfisher, here was burgled early today.
During the incident, Janathan and his family were sleeping. His maid discovered the burglary at about 3am.
Janathan then lodged a report at the Inanam police station at about 7.50am. Among the items that were stolen was a Proton Inspira car, a laptop computer, and an iPad.
Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief, ACP Jauteh Dikun when contacted, confirmed the incident, and the case was being investigated under Section 457/379A of the Penal Code.
“Police also found a PVC pipe which had been broken and found near the door, and believed to have been used by the burglars to enter the house,” he said.
Jauteh said so far, no arrests had been made and the police were looking at various angles.
He said the police did not discount the possibility that the culprits were more than one person. — Bernama
