SHAH ALAM, June 13 — Crime Prevention Department director Datuk Ayub Yaakob said more police personnel will be deployed at hotspots to curb snatch theft incidences, which have recently increased.

Snatch thefts have increased by 23.4 per cent despite a 11.4 per cent decline in the crime index for the first five months of this year.

"Urban centres in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur are the focus of snatchers. We will have to place more personnel at hotspots to curb snatch thefts and ensure public safety," he told reporters after a visit to Selangor Police Headquarters, here today. — Bernama
