ALOR GAJAH, Dec 16 — The Malacca government today officially unveiled the draft special area plan for a solar valley that will emerge as a world-class green technology city.

The draft of the plan for the Malacca World Solar Valley is being displayed at the Alor Gajah Municipal Council office from 9am to 4pm until December 31 for feedback from the public.

State Housing, Local Government and Environment Committee chairman Sazali Muhamad Din, who represented Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron at the ceremony, said the solar valley would be developed on 8,043.4 hectares in Rembia here.

The solar valley would apply solar energy as the primary alternative in municipal activities for all sectors, he said.

It would encompass development of land use, including the construction of a research, development, innovation and commercialisation centre (RDIC), a solar mosque and a station to charge electric vehicles, he added.

“The establishment of the Malacca World Solar Valley is expected to create 45,000 job opportunities,” he said.

He said the Malacca government welcomed feedback from the public on the proposed development of the solar valley. — Bernama
