KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 — Pokémon fans, the countdown has started for the PokéXciting! 30th anniversary of Pokémon celebrations in Kuala Lumpur.
If you’ve been waiting for news on the Pokémon Pop-up store the good news is that it will be open on the morning of September 12 as previously announced.
One catch, though. Queues to enter the store open at 6am for the diehards to try and score exclusive Pokémon merch.
The queue will open no earlier than 6am so don’t try to come before then.
Visitors will be allowed to queue from 6am but tickets to enter will only be distributed from 8am onwards at the Level G Ombak KLCC entrance.
However the Pokémon Company has confirmed that no trading card game (TCG) products will be sold on the day. That could change in future so stay tuned for updates.
If you’d rather avoid the crowds on that day, head over to neighbouring KLCC Park for a whole host of activities as follows:
The PokéXciting! Parade will have two 30-minute sessions: 1.30pm to 2pm and later in the evening at 6pm to 6.30pm so if you can’t make it in the afternoon, you can catch the evening slot.
There will also be various stage shows to watch as follows:
2pm-2.15pm: Pikachu Dance Show - EDM
2.30pm-2.45pm: Pikachu Dance Show - Pokémon Kids TV
6.45pm-7pm: Pikachu Dance Show
7.40-8.10pm ROCK - PokéXciting! Special Night Show
If stage shows aren’t your thing, then check out the special PokéXciting! Drone Show happening from 9 to 9.10pm at KLCC Park.
There will also be booths you can collect sun visors/Pokéscape/Pokémon Kids TV-related items from 2pm to 7.30pm as well as a separate Pokémon Go booth open from 10am to 7.30pm.
Free advice: avoid driving to Ombak KLCC or KLCC by taking the Putrajaya MRT and get off at the Persiaran KLCC stop, which is just across from Ombak KLCC.
For Kelana Jaya LRT-goers, you can stop at Ampang Park and walk out and switch to the Putrajaya MRT. Or you could get off at KLCC and then walk from there to the Park and from there to Ombak KLCC (only if you don't mind the long walk).
For the Kajang Line MRT, you can switch to the Putrajaya line at either Kwasa Damansara or TRX.
