BEIJING, June 26 — First it was the “thigh gap test”, then the “belly button challenge”. And if that wasn’t enough, now there’s yet another ridiculous viral trend that has emerged

And this one involves collarbones. The “collarbone challenge”, which started in China, involves stacking a row of coins along the clavicle — the collarbone — and the more you are able to stack, the “skinnier” you are deemed to be.

According to Huffington Post, who quoted Chinese site Sina News, being able to balance the coins along the collarbone represents a “skinny” and “sexy” body.

But, like the previous challenges, these tests only really succeed at shaming people's bodies.

While these “skinny” challenges may seem like a passing fad for the more self-assured, but for many others who see the tests as a true standard for beauty, it is a dangerous thing.

Counsellors and fitness instructors warn that these tests are dangerous because they are poor, if not completely inaccurate, ways to measure body health, fitness and how “in shape” you are.

We’re not sure why such trends keep appearing, but we sure wish that social media could be used to spread body love instead of encouraging such dangerous comparisons.
