PARIS, Oct 21 — New conceptual takes on the Chevrolet Malibu and Chevrolet Cruze are coming to Las Vegas on November 1 and they are all about giving owners the confidence to express their individuality.

The cars are a preview of a potentially real-world Chevrolet Blue Line series of custom parts and accessories that are focused on enhancing both performance and appearance. But whether they remain conceptual or not will be down to whether the crowds give them the thumbs up or down.

“The Chevrolet Blue Line Series concepts integrate accessories that offer greater personalisation choices for customers,” said Roger McCormack, director, Accessories and Performance Parts Marketing.

“We look forward to gauging public reaction at the SEMA Show and other venues.”

The Malibu and the Cruze are both finished in the same Genesis White paint effect that tints from white to grey under different lighting conditions.

The windows have a blue rather than black tint and the alloy wheels boast a new slate metallic blue finish.

The Malibu also benefits from a black grille finish, a rear diffuser and spoiler and a suspension set-up that drops ride height by 10mm. This makes the car look sportier, but when combined with new springs and a new custom brake package, should also improve handling.

Meanwhile the Cruze gets a chrome grille finish and a cabin with satin graphite accents on the dashboard and gear lever. Its suspension has also been lowered by 10mm thanks to new springs and a larger diameter front stabiliser that will make the car feel more responsive under acceleration or braking.

As for stopping power there's a new performance brake kit that boasts 300mm diameter vented and slotted front rotors plus new callipers.

Both show cars also get new air intake systems and exhausts that improve engine breathing and reduce back pressure so that their engines run more efficiently and the flow of fuel and waste gases is optimised.

“Chevrolet accessories bring a level of value and peace of mind that can only come from parts that are designed, engineered, tested and backed by the same team that developed the vehicles,” said McCormack.

“It’s a level of integration that enhances the sporty appearance of the vehicles.”

In all, Chevrolet will be bringing 20 cars to this year’s SEMA Show, which this year runs November 1-4 at the Las Vegas Convention Centre. — AFP-Relaxnews
