KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 — Barely half a year from its launch in Malaysia, the all-new third-generation Audi TT’s model portfolio receives a significant enhancement with the official introduction of the Audi TTS, making it the first ever Audi S model to be officially sold in Malaysia. By ‘officially imported’ it means the TTS models were never hitherto imported by the local distributor, but were brought in by ‘grey’ importers, usually as ‘reconditioned’ units.

Head of corporate communications for Audi Malaysia Isaac Lee Mathew shares, “The introduction of the Audi TTS marks a milestone in our mission to offer the full range of vehicles that epitomise the sporting intent and performance heritage of Audi right here in Malaysia.”

At the heart of the new TTS is Audi’s award-winning 2.0-litre TFSI engine that incorporates advanced technologies such as direct fuel injection, exhaust gas turbocharging, and Audi valve lift system that allow it develop maximum output of 286hp and maximum torque of 380Nm available between 1,800 and 5,200rpm.

Combined with quattro all-wheel drive and a 6-speed S Tronic transmission, the TTS is able to make the zero to 100kmh sprint in 4.7 seconds, a full 1.2 seconds faster than the standard TT coupé, with an electronically-governed top speed of 250km/h. Despite its staggering performance, the TTS is able to record a combined fuel consumption rating of 6.9 litres/100km and a CO₂ emission of just 159 g/km in the European test cycle. Readers are reminded that these are figures derived from a set test procedure, and ‘real world’ figures are likely to vary somewhat.

The exterior of the Audi TTS features the familiar silhouette of the Audi TT coupé, but with a number of distinguishing features such as identifying TTS badging, TTS-specific radiator grille with aluminium design, TTS-specific front and rear bumper with diffuser, aerodynamic side sills, aluminium-look exterior mirrors and quad oval tailpipes.

The interior of the new Audi TTS similarly carries design elements of the TT coupé merged with TTS-specific interior features such as electrically adjustable S sport front seats, TTS sports contour leather-covered steering wheel with multifunction plus and shift paddles, matt brushed aluminium inlays, “S” badge scuff plates in both door apertures, and a honeycomb-like laser texture for the dashboard.

Mr. Mathew adds, “The Audi brand stands for progressiveness, sportiness and sophistication; traits which are especially evident in our S and RS model ranges. These are early days yet for Audi Malaysia, and I am personally very excited about what we’ve accomplished and furthermore what we have in store for the local market.”

The new Audi TTS is offered in eleven colour choices: Glacier White, Scuba Blue, Tango Red, Floret Silver, Monsoon Grey, Nano Grey, Brilliant Black, Mythos Black and Daytona Grey with pearl effect, along with TTS-exclusive colours, Vegas Yellow and Sepang Blue with pearl effect.

Available at all authorised Audi dealerships nationwide, the Audi TTS is priced from RM 389,900, with optional Matrix LEDs and rear-view camera available for RM5,000 and RM2,500 respectively.
