LONDON, Sept 10 — The premium British brand famous for the gas guzzling Range Rovers and powerful super sedans, is showcasing three new alternative powered concept SUVs
Each concept is built around something the company calls the electric drive module (eDM) that it claims can produce more power and torque than any electric motor-generator currently in automotive use.
The eDM, developed in-house by the company, can be inserted between any engine and transmission to create different types of hybrid engine or used on its own as a full-electric, battery only unit.
And as such Jaguar Land Rover has developed three different vehicles - a mild hybrid, a plug-in hybrid and a plug-in electric SUV to demonstrate the flexibility of the technology.
“This is a long-term Jaguar Land Rover research project exploring all aspects of future hybrid and battery electric vehicle technology,” said Dr Wolfgang Epple, Director of Research and Technology, Jaguar Land Rover.
“The three concept vehicles will allow us to test and develop exciting new potential technologies that could form part of our low and zero emissions vision beyond 2020.” — AFP-Relaxnews
