BASEL, June 19 — An installation fabricated from Audi TT coupé doors has gone on show at the Design Miami/ Basel fair in Switzerland.
Created by designer Konstantin Grcic, “TT Pavilion” transforms elements of the car’s bodywork, including the rear hatch, into a work of art.
The various fragments are held together by a futuristic wooden structure and mounted on stilts.
The installation can be easily assembled and dismantled.
Visitors enter the pavilion via the coupé’s doors, which have been flipped upwards on hinges.
German designer Grcic is best known for his industrial and experimental projects which have been displayed at institutions such as the Venice Biennale and the Vitra Design Museum.
His serious and functional, yet occasionally unwieldy, design style has been applied to collaborative projects with brands including Flos, Muji, Vitra and BD Barcelona.
