Significant uptick in attacks on Americans in Middle East possible, says US Defence secretary

WASHINGTON, Oct 22 — The US Department of Defence warned today that there’s a possibility of a “significant escalation” of attacks on troops and citizens in the Middle East.

“We’re seeing a prospect of a significant escalation of attacks on our troops and people throughout the region,” Lloyd Austin, the US Defence secretary, told ABC’s This Week. — Reuters
