SINGAPORE, June 27 — A rubbish collection centre in Bedok South caught fire this morning, though no one was hurt.
The fire at 32 Bedok South Avenue 2 started around 9.40am, and was brought under control by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) by around 10am.
Yusof Shafi, who lives in the neighbourhood, said he heard a “small blast” before he saw the fire.
Similarly, Ibrahim Abdul Aziz, who lives several blocks down at 10 Bedok South Road, told TODAY he heard a “noise (that sounded) like a blast” from his home.
The SCDF said the fire involved the contents of the bin centre, but gave no further details.
A video shot by Yusof showed the interior of the rubbish collection centre completely engulfed in flames as firemen worked to put out the fire, with a town council cleaner seen attempting to assist in the effort.
The cause of the fire is unclear and is currently under investigation. — TODAY
