The investigations are understood to be linked to an incident that a Facebook user who goes by the name “Hui Ying” had posted about on May 19. She had appealed for witnesses to an assault on her 69-year-old father along Hougang Avenue 7 the previous night.

According to “Hui Ying”, her father had accidentally brushed against an e-bike rider while he was crossing the road. The rider then rained punches on her father’s chest and face before fleeing the scene.

She said her father suffered a heart attack after the assault.
