SINGAPORE, May 18 — Applications to obtain tickets for this year’s National Day Parade (NDP 2017) at the Marina Bay floating platform opens next Tuesday, the NDP 2017 executive committee announced today.

Due to the smaller seating capacity of the venue, there will be one additional preview show to allow more Singaporeans to watch the show live, Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen said in a Facebook post.

Including the two preview shows on July 22 and July 29, three national education shows, and the actual day’s performance, about 150,000 Singaporeans will be able to watch the NDP ‘live’.

Singapore citizens and permanent residents can apply for two, four or six tickets to the preview shows or actual parade via SMS or the official NDP website.

Applications will close on June 4. Successful applicants will be notified on their phones from June 26 to July 3.

Ticket collection will take place from July 7 to 9 and July 14 to 16 at the National Gallery Singapore, Basement 1, The Ngee Ann Kongsi Auditorium Foyer.

The NDP 2017 will also be telecasted ‘live’ for viewers, and there will be ‘live’ 360° video streaming on NDPeeps YouTube this year.

Details on NDP 2017 ticketing can be found here.

This year’s NDP theme is #OneNationTogether — a call to Singaporeans to be “confident in our collective future as we overcome all odds together”.

The return to the Marina Bay floating platform after a two-year hiatus, will bring back traditional crowd favourites such as the Red Lions parachutists and aerial display.

Both acts were missing from last year’s show because of venue restrictions at the National Stadium.

On top of these, spectators will also be treated to larger military display — also a popular item in previous NDPs — as the country marks the 50th anniversary of National Service. — TODAY
