SINGAPORE, Oct 30 — As of 1pm today, the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) has screened 653 patients, with no new cases reported yet.

A total of 596 patients have tested negative and have all been informed. 54 test results are still pending.

No new cases have been reported since Oct 23. Three patients have tested postive — two announced on Oct 23 and one announced on Oct 21.

Appointments have been made for another 262 patients for screening.

A total of 312 staff have also been screened and they were all tested negative.

The SGH are screening patients who were admitted to Ward 64A and Ward 67 from January to September this year. Originally, screenings were carried out on patients who had stayed in the wards between January and June, but on Wednesday, the independent review committee (IRC), which is investigating the recent hepatitis C outbreak at SGH’s renal ward, had advised that the screening period be extended.

Consequently, the total number of people to undergo testing has risen to more than 1,200. — TODAY
