SINGAPORE, Oct 8 — Indonesia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi yesterday indicated that her country will take up Singapore’s offer to help with the haze, said Dr Vivian Balakrishnan on Facebook.
Yesterday, the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs had sent a formal request to the Indonesian embassy for the names of the companies suspected of playing a part in causing the haze.
In its note to the Indonesian embassy yesterday, Singapore also reiterated its haze assistance package, which included assets, personnel, high-resolution satellite pictures and hotspot coordinates.
Dr Vivian said he had spoken with Marsudi earlier this evening on the issue.
“Had a good discussion this evening with Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi who indicated that Indonesia will now take up our offer.
“Good for our countries to work together to resolve this as soon as possible,” wrote Dr Vivian on Facebook. — TODAY
