SINGAPORE, Sept 27 — Air quality has been gradually deteriorating throughout the day, with the 3-hour PSI mark breaching the 100 mark at 2pm today.

As at 6pm, the 24-hour PSI was still in the moderate range at 82-92, while the three-hour PSI was at 145.

The National Environment Agency (NEA) said in a 5pm update today that the 24-hour PSI over the next 24 hours is expected to be in the low to mid-sections of the unhealthy range, with a possibility of entering the high-section of the Unhealthy range if denser haze is blown in by unfavourable winds.

Moderate to dense haze is still persisting in central and southern Sumatra, and some haze has spread to the sea areas west and south of Singapore, said the NEA.

The NEA advised healthy persons to reduce prolonged or strenuous outdoor physical exertion. The elderly, pregnant women and children should minimise prolonged or strenuous outdoor physical exertion, while those with chronic lung or heart disease should avoid prolonged or strenuous outdoor physical exertion.

Persons who are not feeling well, especially the elderly and children, and those with chronic heart or lung conditions, should seek medical attention. — TODAY
