SINGAPORE, Jan 3 — A total of 91 summonses were issued by the Traffic Police during an island-wide dedicated operation on New Year’s Eve and the early hours of New Year’s Day.
Six people were arrested for serious traffic violations such as dangerous driving and drink driving.
63 summonses were for illegal modifications to vehicles, four were for speeding while the remaining were issued for minor traffic offences.
The operation was conducted jointly with the Land Transport Authority.
“The Traffic Police takes a serious view against motorists who commit traffic offences that endanger the safety of other road users and will not hesitate to take firm actions against errant and irresponsible motorists,” said the officer-in-charge of Traffic Police’s Special Operations Team, Senior Station Inspector Rudy Ismail.
“We would also like to remind all road users to adhere to the vehicular and road speed limits, as well as, to comply with traffic light signals at all times.” — Today
