SINGAPORE, July 5 — Closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras will be installed at 20 more locations across Singapore to tackle illegal parking, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced yesterday.

The cameras will be installed at 10 locations — among them Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 near Ang Mo Kio MRT station and Collyer Quay — from July 15.

This will be followed by the installation of cameras at another 10 locations by October, such as at Golden Mile Food Centre in Beach Road and near Tekka Centre in Serangoon Road.

In a statement, the LTA said the locations were selected based on considerations such as the high incidence of illegal parking.

To help motorists identify CCTV monitoring zones, lamp posts or sign posts in the zone will be painted with a vertical bright orange strip.

The LTA said it would continue to monitor the effectiveness of the CCTVs after implementation and review the need for expansion to other areas where necessary. — Today
