NAIROBI, July 3 — Four people were killed when a cargo plane bound for Somalia crashed in Nairobi yesterday morning.

The Fokker 50 cargo plane was transporting khat when it took off from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 4.15am.

The plane was heading to Somalia’s capital Mogadishu but crashed just two minutes after takeoff, landing on top of a commercial building.

All four people on board were killed.

Preliminary investigations found that the plane reportedly failed to gain height after take-off, and might have hit an electrical pole before crashing. No one on the ground was harmed. — Reuters
