Looking for a spring break destination? Cancun may be your best bet

LOS ANGELES, Feb 29 ― Still shopping for a spring break destination? According to a new report, holidaymakers will find the best deals in Cancun, while Barcelona is to be avoided if you're looking for a peaceful vacation.

Online reservation site Booking.com has crunched the numbers and come up with a guide that breaks down the best deals for each week of the spring break season from March 15 to April 30.

Overall, the report found that vacations in Cancun will be 45 per cent cheaper than they were in 2015, making it one of the best deals this year.

Despite falling oil prices and lower airfares, the report also found that spring break vacations in 2016 are expected to be slightly more expensive ― 4 per cent ― over 2015.

Analysts likewise compiled a list of the most popular spring break destinations this year based on the number of bookings. Holidaymakers who want to avoid crowds ― or count themselves among the world's travel trendsetters ― may want to reconsider destinations like Barcelona, Charleston, Kyoto, Lisbon and Newport.

Online reservation site Kayak also offers insight into the best times to book hotel and airfare at some of the most popular and emerging spring break destinations in the US, that include San Diego, Las Vegas, Fort Myers, Tampa and Phoenix.
