JAKARTA, Jan 30 — The Indonesian government has moved to reassure tourists that all parts of the archipelago are safe, following the January 14 terrorist attack on capital city Jakarta.

Tourism Ministry deputy director of sales missions for Asia Pacific, Jordi Paliama, told The Jakarta Post that foreign visitors should have no qualms about travelling to all regions in the country.

His comments come as Indonesia prepares to welcome an influx of tourists during the Chinese New Year holidays, particularly from China.

In 2015, over 1.14 million Chinese citizens visited the archipelago, an increase of 18.77 per cent from the previous year, according to The Jakarta Post.

Malaysians are also among Indonesia’s main sources of foreign tourist arrivals, alongside Australians, Japanese and Singaporeans.
