SINGAPORE, Nov 25 ― Step into a lush dreamscape filled with kaleidoscopic and bioluminescent flora and fauna: Pink flowers shaped like parasols hover in the air, twinkling blue lights dance in the breeze, and magical trees emit a hypnotic blue glow.
From November 27 until December 12, get transported deep into the weird and wonderful world of Mystica at the Night Safari. Explore this brilliantly coloured universe and, on top of that, interact with fantastical creatures of the night. Come prepared for a larger-than-life experience.
Meet the twilight guardians
Your journey into the magical realm starts at the entrance of the Night Safari. When the sun sinks in the horizon, a constellation of otherworldly lights comes alive, pulsating in the air above the portal to Mystica. Three times each evening every Friday and Saturday, twilight guardians with lighted props appear from the darkness. These magical beings swirl in serpentine patterns among visitors, twirling their lighted props and dancing before disappearing. Don’t blink, or you may miss the light show.
Be dazzled by performances
Make your evening at Mystica more spectacular by paying a visit to some of the realm’s most popular shows. A special version of the Thumbuakar fireshow, for example, features fearsome warriors covered with glow-in-the-dark body paint. Expect a flame-spitting and fire-twirling extravaganza from these men with fluorescent skin. The glow-in-the-dark Thumbuakar fireshow is available every Friday and Saturday from November 27 to December 12.
Join in the Sparkly Animal Enrichment Sessions
Make a foray to the four walking trails and watch one of the animal enrichment sessions at selected exhibits. These sessions have been designed to help stimulate the natural behavior of the animals. Try to spot them prying open lustrous, sparkly objects to get the snacks inside. The enrichment sessions are available every Friday and Saturday from November 27 to December 12.
Unravel this glow-in-the-dark mystery
Your key to more rewards in this magical realm lies in the Mystica event card you’ll receive at the entrance. Follow its clue to a place that glows in the dark, and watch as its mysterious lights reveal words on the card. The hidden message that you are going to receive might help shine the light on an unexpected surprise. This activity runs every Friday and Saturday from November 27 to December 12.
Take part in the Magical Light, Magical Night Instagram contest
Earn a chance to get up close and personal with the nocturnal creatures of the Night Safari. Creative Mystica fans stand a chance to be zookeepers for a night at the park. This is what you need to do: From Friday until December 12, visit Mystica and post a photo on the theme of Magical Light, Magical Night on Instagram. Don’t forget to add the #Mystica hashtag. Two pairs of Keeper for a Night passes (valid in January 2016) are up for grabs.
Be entertained by talented creatures
The Creatures Of The Night show is a must-see. It taps on the talents of some of the park’s most loved animals, such as the otter, binturong and civet. These animals take to the stage to show off the unique skills that enable them to survive in the wild. Through their engaging acts, the Night Safari hopes to educate the audience on nocturnal animals and their natural habitats. The Creatures Of The Night performance runs at selected times each evening, weather permitting.
Catch a tram ride
Spy on the star attractions of the Night Safari in their natural habitat when you are in Mystica. Catch a ride on the tram that takes you to the habitats of the Malayan tiger, South African white lions and other inhabitants of this nocturnal wildlife park. These creatures of the night, many of them critically endangered in the wild, will no doubt be hits with visitors. The 40-minute Tram Safari Experience runs every evening.
