MILAN, Sept 9 — A recently restored Milanese landmark, the Excelsior Hotel Gallia, has been named Europe’s best luxury hotel.
At The World Travel Awards Europe which took place in Sardinia over the weekend, the historic palace dating back to 1932 was given the distinction over 15 other rivals spanning Italy, France, Monaco and Greece for restoring the golden era of the belle epoque with contemporary elegance in its 2014 resurrection.
Guests are greeted by a 30-metre Murano glass chandelier and more than 500 pieces of art and furnishings created exclusively by local designers and craftsmen.
The property is composed of 53 suites including the 1,000-square-metre Katara Suite, which was also named Europe’s best luxury hotel suite, offering two terraces, four bedrooms and private spa. — AFP-Relaxnews
