CAPE TOWN, Dec 21 — To coincide with the release of the silver screen film “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom,” South African Airways Vacations has created a 10-day package that traces the footsteps of the anti-apartheid crusader and freedom fighter.

“Mandela’s Journey to Freedom” includes visits to Robben Island, where the political prisoner spent 27 years, various townships in Cape Town, and Liliesleaf, the African National Congress’s military headquarters featured in the film.

Other stops include visits to the Hector Pieterson Museum and the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg.

Based on his autobiography, the film is set for a full worldwide release December 25.

The travel package starts at US$2,599 (RM8,50) for departures from New York or Washington DC between January 10 to May 31, 2014, and August 11 - December 9, 2014. — AFP-Relaxnews
