KUALA LUMPUR, June 6 -- Singapore Power Group (SP) has successfully begun delivering deregulated energy services to commercial and industrial (C&I) customers in the island republic with the help of Silver Spring Networks, Inc's IPv6 smart infrastructure networking platform.

According to a statement issued by Silver Spring Networks, Inc., a leading networking platform and solutions provider for smart energy networks, SP is leveraging its IPv6 smart infrastructure networking platform countrywide.

This allows eligible C&I customers in Singapore to now choose from a variety of retail energy providers and purchase electricity at wholesale market prices.

“By enabling consumers in Singapore to choose their retail energy provider, we are able to bring about greater choice and savings for our consumers, while building a scalable energy infrastructure for the future,” said Wong Chit Sieng, Chief Information Officer of Singapore Power and Chairman of SP PowerGrid, the transmission and distribution subsidiary of SP.

“The transition to an interoperable and high-performance IPv6 network canopy, high service levels, and speedy deployment has been possible through strong collaboration with strategic partners like Silver Spring. This infrastructure will enable SP to continue delivering world class power supply to Singapore’s consumers.”

“We’re honoured to partner with an industry pioneer like Singapore Power.

They continue to build on world-class infrastructure to deliver increased benefits to their customers and define excellence in the region,” said Scott Lang, Chairman, President and CEO, Silver Spring Networks. — Bernama
