KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 — Former 2011 World Youth champion, Zulfadli Zulkiffli can challenge the Badminton World Federation (BWF) over his match-fixing case as the world governing body does not have strong evidence to implicate Zulfadli.

His counsel, Datuk Joshua Kevin said BWF found his client guilty for matching-fixing solely based on words used in WhatsApp messages.

He said several words quoted in the WhatsApp messages so happened took place during the related tournaments participated by the national player but were not linked to match-fixing.

“The question which was raised during the hearing in Singapore, was which particular match was he involved in match-fixing. If we look at the 65-page decision, they were not clear of which specific match Zulfadli was involved in the offence, except for several words to assume matching-fixing took place.

“Let us know which specific match was involved in match-fixing so as facilitate us make the defence and in this situation, it is impossible for us to defend,” he said in a special press conference here today.

On Tuesday, BWF imposed a 20-year suspension on Zulfadli from any badminton activities apart from a US$25,000 (RM98,358) fine. — Bernama
