KUALA TERENGGANU, Feb 22 — The Terengganu Football Association (PBSNT) will not hesitate to take action against football players in the state involved in match fixing and bribes.
PBSNT president Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman, who is also Terengganu Mentri Besar, said if any individual was charged with such allegations, they would be suspended from the team pending investigations.
“If they are found innocent, they can continue (to play) but if they are guilty, then we will take action. It is the same procedure for all government servants, including government-linked companies (GLCs) or state football associations suspected of being involved with this (corruption),” he said.
He was speaking to reporters after a friendly programme with the Terengganu Health Clinic Board of Visitors and Advisory Panel, which was also attended by Terengganu State Health director Dr Mohammad Omar.
Ahmad Razif was commenting on a newspaper report on possible actions to be considered by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) to address the issue of match fixing in the local football scene, including having players, coaches and team officials declare their assets. — Bernama
