KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 — National Moto2 racer Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah collected two points after ending the Spanish leg of the World Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) race in 14th position at the Aragon Circuit today.
Hafizh Syahrin, from Petronas Raceline Malaysia team, completed the 21 laps in 40 minutes 24.322 seconds. The race was won by Sam Lowes from Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 team who clocked 40:00.885s.
Alex Marquez and Franco Morbidelli from the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS team came in second and third respectively.
Marquez recorded a time of 40:04.174s while Morbidelli 40:04.206s.
After 14 races to date, Hafizh Syahrin is eighth place overall out of 37 racers with 103 points in the world position chart for Moto2 racers this season.
Hafizh Syahrin, via Skype, said he was disappointed because it was difficult to get the best tuning for his Kalex motorcycle since Friday until the race day.
But he was satisfied with the two points collected at the race today and is optimistic that he would rise to the occasion at the next race at the Montegi Circuit in Japan from October 14-16.
“This is a very difficult week for me and the team to get the best set-up for the motorcycle. I still found it difficult to control the front wheel this week. We have worked hard since Friday to get a good machine.
“Thank God for the two points today. Thanks to supporters in Malaysia, I will endeavour to do my best at the Sepang Circuit,” he said.
More than 200 supporters witnessed Hafizh Syahrin’s race at a Pescao55 MotoGP live viewing party at the Pescao Concept Store premises in Petaling Jaya here. — Bernama
