PETALING JAYA, Aug 3 — Malaysia advanced to the last eight of the Women’s World Junior Team Championship after clinical victories over Hong Kong and hosts Holland yesterday.

The girls however trailed in the first game after last year’s British Junior Open S. Sivangari lost 16-14, 11-9, 11-13, 11-9 to Choi Uen Shan.

Andrea Lee then leveled proceedings with a 12-10, 11-8, 9-11, 11-8 win over Ka Wing Ho, before Zoe Foo emerged hero by taking apart Hiu Lam Lui 11-9, 11-7, 11-5 for the 2-1 win.

Sivasangari then made up for her defeat with a win over Holland’s Elena Wagenmans, before Foo and Nazihah Hanis confirmed the perfect record in the group stage with a 3-0 triumph over the host.

Malaysia, who are in Poule D, will take on Group C runners-up New Zealand today.
