KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 — Kawasaki rider Tom Sykes hunts for a championship title at Sepang International Circuit today after denying Aprilla’s Jordi Torres pole in 2015 World Superbike Championship yesterday.
After a tense Superpole 2 in 34° Celcius heat at the 5.543km track, Briton Sykes clocked 2:03.240s, the fastest lap of the weekend, while Sylvain Guintoli of Pata
Honda World Superbike Team was third.
“Things were good but I never underestimated Torres. I will also keep an eye on his teammate, 44-year-old Max Biaggi,” said the 2013 world champion.
Biaggi has won four MotoGP titles in the 250cc category. He clocked 2:03.948s to be in fourth place.
Sykes is second in the overall ranking with 282 points.
