SINGAPORE, June 7 — The diving event has proved to be a gold mine for the national contingent when Malaysia swept both gold medals offered in the competition today.

The OCBC Aquatic Centre saw the superior performances of Malaysian divers in the men’s 3m springboard and women’s 10m platform synchronised events.

Despite their short stint, Leong Mun Yee and Traisy Vivien Tukiet proved they were a class above the rest of the pack.

“We only trained several times as Mun Yee was competing in the Fina World Series. Combining with a senior diver like Mun Yee, I need to ensure I do not make any mistakes,” said the 21-year-old Traisy Vivien from Kuching, Sarawak.

Earlier, Ooi Tze Liang clinched the gold in the men’s 3m Springboard after accumulating 473.55 points from six dives.

The silver medal went to Ahmad Sukran Jamjami of Indonesia with 381.00 points and the bronze was won by Mark Lee of Singapore with 349.25 points. — Bernama
