SEREMBAN, May 9 — Negri Sembilan and Penang drew 2-2 in a Premier League match at Stadium Tuanku Abdul Rahman here, last night.

It was a replay of the Negri Sembilan-Penang match on April 12 which was abandoned due to heavy rainfall.

Visitors Penang took a shock lead when Mohd Faiz Subri’s solo effort managed to deceive the Negri Sembilan defence in the 12th minute.

Stung, Negri Sembilan then launched several raids to level the score but were let down by poor finishing by strikers Francis Forkey Doe and Lee Gil Hoon.

The Negri Sembilan offensive continued after the break and they were rewarded in the 57th minute when S. Sivanesan’s lob found the net.

In the 69th minute, Negri Sembilan was denied a second goal when substitute Rudie Ramli’s shot was saved by Penang goalkeeper Sani Anuar Kamsani.

Negri Sembilan’s relentless onslaught bore fruit when K. Thanabalan connected a pass from Francis in the 89th minute to put them 2-1 up.

Just when the match seemed to slip away from Penang, Faiz scored the equaliser, his second goal of the night, after a lapse in the Negri Sembilan defence deep into injury time. — Bernama
