KUALA LUMPUR, April 3 — Malaysia’s challenge in the Malaysia Open Super Series Premier Championship ended today when the women’s doubles pair of Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei went down in the quarter-finals.

They took a 21-3, 21-10 beating at the hands of China’s Xia Huan-Tian Qing in 29 minutes despite the strong backing of local supporters.

They gathered some semblance of rhythm early in the second set but the pair from China were not taking any chances before closing the set out 21-10.

“It was very disappointing because there were too many mistakes,” said Hoo after the match. “We lost focus because we wanted to show good performance in front of the supporters.”

The China pair will meet Korea’s Chang Ye Na and Jung Kyung Eun in the semi-finals tomorrow. — Bernama
