PETALING JAYA, April 19 ― Incumbent Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Sultan Ahmad Shah will be challenged by his son, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah as well as Johor Football Association president (PBNJ) Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim for the president's post at FAM's 50th Congress on May 25. 

FAM secretary-general Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin said three candidates would be contesting to fill the two deputy president posts, namely incumbents Datuk Seri

Subahan Kamal and Datuk Seri Afandi Hamzah as well as Football Association of Selangor (FAS) deputy president, Datuk Abdul Mokhtar Ahmad.

He said there would be eight candidates vying for the four vice-president posts, namely Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan, Datuk Sudarsono Osman, Datuk Rozabil Abdul Rahman, Datuk Astaman Abdul Aziz, Gen Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin, Datuk Rosmadi Ismail, Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharuddin and Datuk Wan Ahmad Nizam Wan Abdul Hamid.

“The names were received before the closing date on March 23 but several candidates withdrew at the last minute,” said Hamidin.

He was speaking to reporters after the 11th FAM Executive Committee meeting for the 2010-2014 term at Wisma FAM, Kelana Jaya here today. ― Bernama
