AICHI, Sept 27 — Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani reportedly fell in straight games to China’s Liang Wei Keng-Wang Chang in the Asian Games quarter-finals today, missing out on a men’s doubles medal.
According to Berita Harian, the world No. 6 Malaysians went down 13-21, 17-21 to the Paris 2024 Olympic silver medallists at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium.
Their defeat ended Malaysia’s challenge in the men’s doubles after Aaron Chia-Tee Kai Wun were knocked out in the second round by South Korea’s Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae yesterday.
Malaysia’s badminton medal tally at Aichi-Nagoya 2026 now rests on Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah, who earlier today secured at least a bronze medal by reaching the women’s doubles semi-finals.
The world No. 5 pair defeated India’s Gayatri Gopichand-Treesa Jolly 21-18, 21-9 in 42 minutes to become Malaysia’s last remaining representatives in the individual badminton competition.
At the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games, Aaron and Soh Wooi Yik claimed Malaysia’s only badminton medal of the Games, taking bronze in the men’s doubles.
