SINGAPORE, Nov 1 — National carrier Singapore Airlines (SIA) has extended the cancellation of its flights between Singapore and Dubai till February 28, 2027, citing the geopolitical situation in the Middle East in an advisory issued on Friday.
The affected flights are SQ494 from Singapore to Dubai and SQ495 from Dubai to Singapore.
SIA’s flights had previously been cancelled till December 2, with its low-cost budget carrier arm Scoot doing so for its flights between Singapore and Jeddah till the same date.
As of October 31, Scoot has not announced a further extension of the cancellation.
SIA added that its other flights may be affected due to the fluid situation.
Customers affected by the cancellations can seek a full refund of the unused portion of their ticket.
Meanwhile, there is no clear end in sight to the US-Israeli war against Iran that started on February 28 this year.
US President Donald Trump, speaking ahead of November 3 midterm congressional elections, said on Friday he believed the war with Iran will end soon, but stopped short of saying how that would happen.
“It’s going to get wrapped up soon,” Trump said in an interview with Kansas City radio station KCMO. “We need a guarantee there’ll never be a nuclear weapon.”
Oil prices rose on Friday — set for a fourth monthly gain — as an attack on a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz highlighted the continuing supply risks from the US-Israeli war on Iran, which has entered its eighth month. — AsiaOne
